Meet Maura

Maura has over 17 years of experience in municipal and state government, and is experienced working with a variety of library organizations, from small rural to large urban, library networks, and library associations. She is a library development consultant for a state library agency, and has held management roles at public libraries.

Her vast experience in public libraries includes training library boards on governance and legal issues, including recruitment, intellectual freedom, and compliance with state laws and regulations. Maura is a trusted resource for guidance and advice to library directors, trustees, friends, foundations, as well as select boards and town managers.

Maura has twice received a Commonwealth of Massachusetts Citation for Outstanding Performance, most recently for her work supporting and advising libraries on intellectual freedom principles, collection development policies, open meeting law and public records. She is passionate about local government and its transformative effect on the lives of residents. Maura is also an avid library user, who experiences the joy and sense of belonging at her own local library. This feeling is infused throughout her work.

Maura has been an active member of the professional library community, currently serving on the United for Libraries Board of Directors and the American Library Association’s Committee on Library Advocacy. She has held leadership roles with the Massachusetts and New England Library Association. She is an accomplished speaker and presenter, with national speaking roles.
